We’re thrilled to share the restoration of one of Hilton Haulage’s most iconic vehicles—Truck #21. This truck isn’t just any truck; it holds a special place in the heart of our company and symbolizes our journey of resilience, innovation, and sustainable growth.
The 1995 Nissan 330 6×4 was a revolutionary addition to the Hilton Haulage fleet at the time. Truck #21, alongside its twin #27, was equipped with a turntable and twist lock tipping bins—an innovative solution that allowed it to switch between different types of harvests with ease. During the pea harvest, the bins were used for tipping, while extended tops could be fitted for the corn harvest.
Once the harvest season ended, the bins were removed, and #21 seamlessly took on other duties, towing flat deck B-Trains or Curtainsiders.
This flexibility was a game changer, allowing us to adapt and make the most of our resources. It’s an embodiment of our core value of “Future,” finding sustainable solutions and making strides with innovation long before it became a buzzword in the industry.
Truck #21 and #27 both served on the frontline for years, and eventually, these leased units were purchased by Hilton’s. Many of our current drivers will fondly remember #21 as their first truck, the one that introduced them to the road and to the camaraderie that makes this company special.
Later in its life, #21 moved onto more local duties as newer trucks with greater horsepower joined the fleet. Despite these changes, it remained a symbol of reliability and endurance, clocking over 700,000 kilometers without major issues—an impressive feat that stands as a testament to its quality and resilience.
The restoration of Truck #21 isn’t just about preserving a vehicle; it’s about honouring the hardworking spirit of our founders and the generations of drivers who have kept this company moving forward.
